Ever wonder how accessible your site is to blind people? Sure, you can follow all the rules out there, like adding alt text to images. But if you really want to see how well your site ‘reads’, you’d ask a blind person right? Well, there’s an easier way.According to this Google blog post, you can use Google mobile as a test for accessibility. When you search for a site on Google Mobile, the search engine will automatically transcode any search result, as well as the subsequent links you follow! So you can find your site in Google mobile, and then surf around and see how bad things blow up. I tried this on my “contact me” form here on the blog, and it didn’t let me send a message. I suspected this would happen, though. But I’ve got plans to make a fully accessible, automated spam bot blocker. But more on that later…
