In a book review of Beyond Java, Joel Spolsky (author of the popular Joel on Software) says that the #1 problem with Java is strict typing. This caught my attention because there has been a lot of discussion in the ColdFusion community about making CF ‘Java Lite’. Many people believe that CF should be more like Java, including having strict typing. Others, like Sean Corfield, believe this would be a mistake. I agree. ColdFusion should continue to be known as an excellent tool for Rapid Application Development, and anything that takes away from that is bad, IMO.
